The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sheer Beauty arrived in 2025 from The Dua Brand's Dua Designer Line, the work credited to Mahsam Raza. The release is a woody floral musk built on a stripped-back pyramid, the kind of reduction that earns attention precisely because it refuses to overcrowd the composition. Raza's structure takes three notes and lets them do the talking: Madagascan mandarin orange at the top, Egyptian violet at the heart, Australian sandalwood anchoring the base. Each carries its own terroir, its own quiet signature, sourced from established origins like Madagascar, Egypt, and Australia rather than synthesized stand-ins.
What makes the composition interesting is its restraint. Three notes is almost architectural in its economy, and the economy reads as confidence on skin. The Madagascan mandarin offers a brighter citrus profile, with a juicy sweetness that feels immediate and accessible, the friendliest part of the pyramid. It doesn't linger past its welcome. The Egyptian violet brings softness to the heart, a powdery character that gives the composition its gentle center of gravity. The violet here is not green, not dewy, not leafy in the way some floral interpretations go.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes belong to the mandarin entirely. It opens bright, almost candied, the kind of citrus that makes you think of clementine segments rather than peel. There's an accessibility here that's immediately inviting, the friendliest part of the composition, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. As the citrus recedes, the violet steps forward around the twenty-minute mark, and the shift is noticeable. The powdery element arrives soft, not sharp. It reads more like the dust on a makeup compact than like a bouquet. The violet here is not green, not stemmy, not the kind of iris-rooted floral that feels earthy. It's a drier accord, slightly sweet, and it gives Sheer Beauty its signature softness. By the ninety-minute mark the sandalwood has claimed most of the base, and the fragrance settles into its drydown. The violet doesn't disappear entirely.
Cultural impact
Sheer Beauty arrived in 2025 as part of The Dua Brand's Dua Designer Line, the perfumer credited to Mahsam Raza. The release is a woody floral musk with a vegan formulation, built on three notes that are listed with their geographic origins: mandarin from Madagascar, violet from Egypt, sandalwood from Australia. That kind of sourcing transparency has become part of how the brand presents its releases, letting the materials speak through the composition. The Egyptian violet and Australian sandalwood pairing gives the fragrance its grounded center, while the Madagascan mandarin opens with a brightness that lifts the whole arrangement.
