The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Dua Brand released Perfumer Dua: Neroli in 2022, part of their Inspired Expression collection. The brief was plain: build a neroli-forward cologne that doesn't disappear under its own freshness. Tunisian neroli leads, but the frame around it is what holds the composition together. French rosemary and Roman chamomile bring the aromatic backbone, petitgrain and bergamot stretch the citrus across a wider register, and lavender, oakmoss, and patchouli keep the whole thing from floating away. It reads as a neroli cologne in the classic Mediterranean tradition, then adds enough herbal weight to wear year-round. Released as an Extrait de Parfum in 30 ml, the concentration was chosen to make the citrus last longer than citrus usually does. That's the practical problem neroli fragrances solve: brightness fades. This one was formulated to hold.
What separates Perfumer Dua: Neroli from the long line of Eau de Cologne-style neroli compositions is the depth underneath. Haitian vetiver and patchouli sit at the structural floor, giving the citrus something to land on instead of evaporating into the air. Roman chamomile adds a dry herbal sweetness that bridges the neroli's bitterness and the vetiver's earth. Oakmoss does what oakmoss does in any fougère-adjacent cologne: pulls everything into a mossy, slightly damp register. The result is a neroli cologne that wears like an aromatic, not just a splash.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong entirely to the neroli. Tunisian neroli opens bright and immediate, with the petitgrain sitting right on its shoulder adding a green, almost leafy bitterness. Bergamot rounds the corners so the citrus reads clean rather than aggressive. French rosemary shows up early, lending an herbal edge that makes the opening feel more like a herb garden than a glass of juice. Lavender hums underneath, quiet but present, pulling the composition toward something aromatic and classical. The transition into the heart phase is gradual. Roman chamomile softens the citrus, the rosemary settles, and patchouli starts to surface from below. By the two-hour mark, the neroli has become a memory more than a presence. What replaces it is a warm, herbal blend: chamomile sweetness, patchouli earth, and the structure of Haitian vetiver keeping it upright.
Cultural impact
Released as part of the Inspired Expression collection, Perfumer Dua: Neroli enters a fragrance landscape where neroli colognes have long been a staple of warm-weather wardrobes. Its position is straightforward: a neroli composition built on an aromatic backbone, with enough herbal and earthy weight to give it presence well past the opening. Wearers who gravitate toward it tend to want neroli's brightness without the fleeting lifespan that often comes with citrus-forward releases, and they value a neroli that holds its shape through the day rather than dissolving into a skin scent by lunch.
