The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza, the nose behind The Dua Brand, launched Mischief Praline in 2026 as part of the house's Inspired Expression line. This one draws its blueprint from Praline Maligne by Jousset Parfums. The name itself does a lot of the work. Mischief signals playfulness, while Praline anchors the composition in something specific and edible. The scent leans fully into confectionery, built to evoke the kind of indulgent, treat-yourself moment where the dessert becomes the whole experience. It's not pretending to be something cerebral or restrained. It wants to smell like something you'd find in a bakery window, warm and sweet, fogged from the inside. The opening hits with a soft, waxy sweetness that reads almost cosmetic before it tips into edible territory.
What makes this composition worth paying attention to is the layering of dairy elements around a chocolate-praline core. Cocoa butter and white chocolate form the opening cushion. Hazelnut praline in the heart brings roasted nuttiness that anchors the sweet profile with something grounded and toasted. Then the base goes heavy on the milk spectrum: caramel for burnt-sugar depth, condensed milk for that canned sweetness that's somehow richer than fresh cream, and vanilla sugar to smooth everything into a single, continuous warmth.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes belong to white chocolate and cocoa butter, and they're softer than expected. Just a milky, slightly waxy sweetness that reads almost cosmetic before it reads edible. Then the hazelnut wakes up. It toasts through the middle hour, carrying the praline with it, and the whole composition shifts from candy bar to actual patisserie. Around the two-hour mark, the caramel takes over. It deepens, darkens slightly, and the condensed milk underneath pushes everything toward something that smells cooked, slow, deliberate. The vanilla sugar never really announces itself; it just smooths every transition so nothing ever crashes. By hour four, what's left on skin is a warm, lactonic haze, caramel-adjacent, faintly nutty, surprisingly skin-like. On fabric the next morning, it's still there. Faintly sweet, a little powdery, like the ghost of something that was very good.
Cultural impact
Mischief Praline belongs to The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line and draws its blueprint from Praline Maligne by Jousset Parfums. The composition leans fully into the gourmand category, embracing milk, caramel, and roasted nut notes with conviction. It's a scent built for people who already know what they want from a dessert-forward fragrance and are ready to commit. The composition doesn't apologize for its sweetness. It doesn't dilute its intent with airy florals or sharp citrus to make itself more wearable. Instead, it offers a full, warm, lactonic experience that stays true to its confectionery inspiration from start to finish.
