The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Incarnation Of The Venom arrived in 2024 from The Dua Brand, composed by Mahsam Raza as part of the house's Inspired Expression collection. It arrives as an extrait de parfum that carries Russian leather, vanilla, and a dense stack of berries through every phase of its wear. The composition reads as dark and sweet on first contact, with fruity facets opening the door before the leathery and gourmand layers settle in. Russian leather brings a smoky, tanned quality that gives the opening a grounded, slightly animalic warmth rather than the bright fizz you'd expect from a berry-heavy release. Vanilla runs through the heart and the base, softening the edges of the leather and tying the berry accord into something cohesive rather than scattered.
The unusual move here is putting Russian leather at the center of a gourmand composition. Here it sits beneath caramel, tonka, and a four-berry stack built from wild strawberry, strawberry, blackberry, and raspberry. The interplay between these elements creates an unusual tension that gives the fragrance its identity. The leather's smoky, animalic edge cuts through what would otherwise be pure dessert territory, while the patchouli and Virginia cedar at the base keep the sweetness from dissolving into something juvenile.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are all fruit and flash. Wild strawberry and blackberry hit bright, almost jammy, with raspberry threading through to keep it from going one-note sweet. Caramel and cinnamon arrive quickly underneath, warming the berries before the cold fruit note can settle into something flat. This phase reads like a confection, and anyone smelling you from across a room will think gourmand. That changes. Around the thirty-minute mark, the leather surfaces. It's not subtle. Russian leather brings a smoky, slightly animalic quality that pushes the berries into the background, and vanilla starts thickening, taking on a creamy weight that the opening only hinted at. Patchouli grounds everything from below, adding an earthy darkness that makes the sweetness feel intentional rather than accidental. By hour two, the drydown is fully established: a warm blend of leather, vanilla, tonka bean, and Virginia cedar, with the berries now reduced to a faint, dark-fruit undertone.
Cultural impact
Incarnation Of The Venom carries a name and concept that resonates with collectors drawn to fragrances built around intensity, danger, and dark thematic imagery. The venom motif signals a deliberate departure from softer, more romantic territory, positioning the release within a growing corner of the market where bold concept names and unapologetically heavy compositions attract buyers looking for statement pieces rather than everyday signatures.
