The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza composed Imperialé Poseidon in 2019, a fragrance that carries The Dua Brand's signature sensibility for working within recognizable scent territory. The composition draws on the bright, oceanic energy commonly associated with Creed's Millésime Impérial, a profile long linked to salt air, tailored confidence, and the crispness of a yacht-deck morning. Raza approached the accord with a perfumer's instinct for contrast, building upward from the citrus-and-pineapple opening rather than anchoring the formula in imitation. The result is a scent that reads as its own statement, sharing family resemblance with the reference while refusing to be mistaken for it.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the sheer range of materials packed into a single arc. Sixteen named notes span citrus, fruit, floral, wood, earth, and musk families, which is unusually dense for an aromatic fruity profile. Bergamot, green mandarin, lemon, blackcurrant, apple, and pineapple collide at the top, creating a brightness that reads almost tropical before the iris and jasmine arrive to cool things down. The birch and patchouli in the heart lend an earthy, slightly smoky counterweight, and oakmoss anchors the base in a way that recalls classic fougère architecture.
The evolution
The opening belongs to the citrus and fruit accord, and it announces itself without hesitation. Pineapple leads, sharp and almost syrupy in its brightness, flanked by bergamot, green mandarin, and lemon that keep the energy from tipping into simple sweetness. Blackcurrant and apple sit underneath the citrus swell, adding a green, slightly tart edge that gives the top dimension rather than letting it read as one-note. The opening feels loud, clean, and immediate, the kind of first impression that catches attention before the wearer has even moved through a room. As the citrus softens and the fruit recedes, iris and jasmine emerge in the heart, powdery and cool, their presence gradual rather than announced.
Cultural impact
Imperialé Poseidon holds an interesting position in contemporary fragrance culture, one that resonates with wearers who recognize the marine-citrus blueprint of Creed's Millésime Impérial and want to explore that territory through a more accessible lens. The fragrance speaks to anyone who has stood in a department store, tested the original, and walked away appreciating the accord without committing to the price tag. Wearers often find themselves reaching for it on days when polish matters but intensity does not, and the formula accommodates that range gracefully.
