The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Dua Brand dropped Fragcomm's Toxicity in 2022 as part of its Original Blend Collection, and the name alone tells you the house was in a mood. Fragrance forums can get combative, full of self-appointed experts who treat personal taste as gospel. The brand's official line called that out directly: the perfume was formulated to cleanse the community of toxic opinions, leaving the wearer purified and refreshed. Whether that was mission statement or marketing provocation, the juice had to earn the name. Toxicity is one of those house-originals, an aromatic citrus built on a surprisingly wide cast of notes for a fresh-leaning scent.
What makes the construction interesting is the sheer density of the top: bergamot, lemon, lime, mandarin, grapefruit, and apple all sharing the first few minutes. This one stacks them, then pulls the whole stack sideways with black tea and pink pepper before the lavender and rosemary arrive. Ambroxan sits in the heart alongside the herbs, acting as a bridge that pulls the fresh top into the warmer base of tonka bean and white musk, and the way the two halves meet gives the composition a subtle saltiness.
The evolution
On skin, the opening is a citrus riot, all sparkle and pith with the apple giving it a fleshy, almost ripe edge. Then the pink pepper and cardamom register as a low warmth, not sharp but present, like sun on the back of your neck. The lavender arrives and immediately calms the whole thing down, quieting the citruses into something that reads more herbal than sour. This is where the rosemary joins, adding a green, almost camphoraceous edge that keeps the lavender from going soapy. The heart phase holds steady, the lavender and tea and herbs in easy conversation, with the ambroxan already working underneath. As the composition develops, the tonka bean and white musk surface, and the whole fragrance shifts from fresh to warm-skin. The ambroxan is the thread that runs through every phase, the thing that prevents the drydown from disappearing into generic musk.
Cultural impact
Within The Dua Brand's catalog, Fragcomm's Toxicity sits comfortably in the Original Blend Collection as a house-original. The brand's official line framed the scent in pointed terms: it was formulated to cleanse the community of toxic opinions, leaving the wearer purified and refreshed, and the provocatively tongue-in-cheek name carries that intent forward. Wearers tend to describe it as a versatile warm-weather option, the kind of fresh aromatic that works in casual and semi-formal settings without announcing itself.
