The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Follower Of Stars arrived in 2026 from The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. Perfumer Mahsam Raza built this one around tuberose, then introduced paprika and bell pepper into the composition. The result reads warm and aromatic, not sweet or creamy in the usual tuberose way. Mate adds a soft green facet to the heart, rounding the spice into something approachable. Tonka bean anchors the drydown with a quiet warmth that lets the florals linger without becoming cloying. The bell pepper accord carries a fresh, almost raw quality in the opening, the kind of green snap that cuts through any expectation of a conventional white floral. Paprika steps in soon after, adding a dry warmth that deepens the composition rather than sweetening it.
What makes this composition worth paying attention to is the contradiction at its center. Tuberose and bell pepper occupy different territory on a perfumer's organ, one rich and heady, the other sharp and green. Paprika bridges the two worlds, warm enough to soften the pepper's snap but grounded enough to keep the tuberose from floating away. Mate threads through as a quiet moderator, lending a soft green facet that prevents the spice from becoming too aggressive. The composition holds a careful balance throughout its wear, each note contributing something without overpowering the others.
The evolution
The opening belongs to the bell pepper and paprika. There's a green brightness that surprises for a floral-dominant scent. It feels raw before the tuberose finds its footing. As the composition develops, the flower settles into the space the spice carved out, warm and full-bodied. Mate arrives to add a dry, slightly bitter facet that strips away any remaining sweetness and leaves the composition honest. The drydown is where tonka bean does its quiet work, a soft amber warmth that carries the tuberose absolute for hours without ever building back up. On skin, the fragrance holds presence without shouting, then settles into something close to the wearer, a soft warmth that reads gently spiced the next morning on fabric. The bell pepper note is most pronounced at the start, giving the composition an almost raw edge that quickly gives way as the warmer elements emerge.
Cultural impact
Follower Of Stars arrived in 2026 from The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, part of a catalog known for its range and accessibility. What sets this release apart is the explicit inclusion of bell pepper alongside the more expected tuberose and paprika combination, a choice that puts vegetable-green notes in direct conversation with floral sweetness. The composition is labeled as a unisex extrait de parfum and carries a vegan claim, both of which speak to current preferences in fragrance marketing and consumer interest.
