The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Extreme Fellow landed in 2021 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, a series that revisits high-end fragrance compositions and offers them in a concentrated Extrait de Parfum format. Extreme Fellow sits squarely within that catalog: a Woody Spicy composition for men that draws its DNA from Tom Ford's cult favorite, Tom Ford for Men Extreme. The original was a benchmark for patchouli-led masculinity, loaded with truffle and fig in a way that felt indulgent and architectural rather than sweet. Dua's version preserves that exact note breakdown while carrying a higher tenacity, the house's signature move when reconstructing a composition for wearers who want the same architecture without the original's limitations.
What makes Extreme Fellow interesting is what it leaves out. No vanilla cushioning the drydown. No amber smoothing the edges. The composition is unapologetically stripped: fig for the milky-fruity sweetness, patchouli for the earthy backbone, truffle for the mineral-umami undertone, cedar for the woody scaffold, lemon for the bright lift at the top. That tension between gourmand-adjacent sweetness and raw earth is what gives the Tom Ford original its cult status, and it's what the Dua version clearly chose to honor.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are lemon doing heavy lifting. Bright, almost sharp, cutting through the heavier notes waiting underneath. Then the fig arrives, not as fruit but as something closer to milky latex, the green sweetness of a fig leaf rather than the jammy pulp of the fruit itself. Within thirty minutes the cedar and patchouli start to dominate, and the truffle surfaces like something mineral rising from damp soil. The composition settles into a woody-sweet groove that doesn't shift dramatically for the next several hours. On skin the sillage reads moderate, present enough to be noticed at conversational distance without ever overpowering the room around you. By the fifth hour the top notes are gone entirely, leaving a close-to-skin blend of patchouli, residual fig sweetness, and cedar that reads warmer and more intimate than the opening suggested.
Cultural impact
Extreme Fellow draws directly from the DNA of Tom Ford for Men Extreme, one of the more distinctive woody spicy releases to come out of the designer fragrance space in the 2000s. The original built its following by leaning into patchouli, fig, and truffle in a way that felt indulgent without crossing into traditional gourmand territory, and the composition has remained a reference point for anyone exploring the patchouli-led masculine space. Extreme Fellow exists as a concentrated Extrait de Parfum take on that same architecture, delivering the same note profile with heightened tenacity.
