The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Cup Of Kawa is part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, released in 2025 and composed by Mahsam Raza. The name itself is a signal. Kawa is coffee, and the fragrance leans hard into that bitter, roasted reality rather than the sugary gourmand versions most brands reach for when coffee appears in a note list. Raza built it around a tight conversation between two origin-specific ingredients. Brazilian coffee brings a dark, unsweetened character, the kind that smells like the pot before any sugar or cream has entered the picture. Green Guatemala cardamom adds that bright, almost mentholated heat, the kind you crack between your teeth over the rim of a mug. Together they read less like a fragrance and more like a beverage you could drink.
Green Guatemala cardamom carries more snap, more menthol, more of that green pod character you get from cracking a fresh capsule. Combined with the coffee, it creates a spicy-aromatic architecture that feels grounded rather than sweet. The rosa centifolia at the heart is the move that keeps the composition from collapsing into a single note. Centifolia rose has a honeyed, almost jam-like density that balances the bitter roast, while the saffron threads through with a leathery warmth.
The evolution
The opening is loud. Brazilian coffee dominates, dark and unsweetened, while Green Guatemala cardamom slices through it with a bright, peppery snap. It reads sharp on skin, closer to espresso than to any candied coffee scent, and it doesn't try to soften itself into something approachable. Soon after, the rose arrives, and it doesn't tiptoe. It's a dry, honeyed centifolia that wraps around the coffee like a second layer of warmth, and the saffron starts threading gold through everything, lending the composition a slow, simmering heat. Around this point the composition smells like an actual cup of coffee with something floral and spiced poured into it, a layered drink rather than a single shot.
Cultural impact
Cup Of Kawa sits within The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, a 2025 release that puts Brazilian coffee and Green Guatemala cardamom at the center of its identity. It appeals directly to anyone who wants a fragrance that announces its main ingredients without hedging. The coffee reads bitter and roasted, the cardamom reads bright and aromatic, and the composition refuses to soften either of them into something safer.
