The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza composed Chocolatey Jasmine Charm in 2023 for The Dua Brand's Original Blend Collection, and the concept reads like a dare: what happens when a gourmand chocoholic hooks up with a white floral? Raza built the formula around two poles that shouldn't work together but somehow do: the deep, cocoa-rich sweetness of chocolate and the luminous, almost tropical brightness of jasmine, held together by a citrus opening of orange and bergamot and a base layer of jammy, cooked-fruit sweetness. The whole thing feels engineered for contrast, the kind of pairing that either collapses under its own weight or lifts into something you can't stop smelling your wrist for.
The interesting move isn't the chocolate, or even the jasmine. It's the way Indonesian patchouli grounds both without darkening them into something heavy. Moroccan rose adds lift to the florals without tipping them into powder, while caramel and tonka bean thread sweetness through every layer. The base lands on vanilla, amber, and moss, which means the gourmand elements arrive from above and the warm earthiness rises from below, meeting somewhere in the middle of your wrist. The patchouli does the quiet work, anchoring the airy white florals to the denser gourmand base so nothing floats off.
The evolution
First fifteen minutes: orange and bergamot crack open like citrus zest flicked over dark cocoa. Fruity notes add a jammy sweetness with a cooked, almost preserves-like depth, and the jasmine starts pushing through almost immediately. Don't expect a slow floral reveal here; it arrives with the chocolate, not after. The heart is where the tension lives. Jasmine and Moroccan rose bloom against caramel and chocolate, and the two material families negotiate. One wearer will smell the florals first with chocolate sitting underneath as a bassline. Someone else will swear the chocolate leads with jasmine as seasoning. The patchouli is the mediator, earthy enough to keep both camps honest. Four hours in, the florals fade and the gourmand takes the wheel. Tonka bean, vanilla, and amber settle into a warm skin-close sweetness that carries the dense, faintly smoky character of melted-down cocoa.
Cultural impact
Chocolatey Jasmine Charm sits inside The Dua Brand's Original Blend Collection, a line that has built a following among wearers who want bold, expressive scents rather than restrained skin scents. The chocolate-and-jasmine pairing puts two strong materials in the same room and asks them to share space, which produces a composition that reads as either inventive or over-the-top depending on who's wearing it. Reach for it when you want warmth and a clear gourmand statement, and skip it for the days when you want something quieter.
