The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
As I Wish: Ylang arrived in 2025 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line. This one takes its cue from My Way Ylang by Giorgio Armani, a white floral that leans into a creamy tropical character. Dua's approach stays faithful to that template: a juicy fruit opening, a generous white floral heart, and a musky vanilla base that lingers like a second skin. The opening bursts with a ripe, nectar-like fruit accord that reads almost candied before it settles, giving the composition its first impression. Then the florals arrive in full, layering creamy and dense white petals into something that feels both lush and airy. The base anchors everything with a soft vanilla warmth and a clean musk that clings close to the skin. It is not a reinvention.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the coconut water threading through the heart. Most tropical florals lean on coconut cream or coconut milk for body, which can read suntan-lotion sweet. Coconut water does something different. It brings a clean, almost watery sweetness that lifts the ylang-ylang and tuberose instead of smothering them. The result is a white floral that feels hydrated, like the difference between a room with open windows and one without.
The evolution
The first spray is all fruit. Mango arrives loud, almost sticky-sweet, the way ripe mango flesh smells before you cut into it. There is a fleeting coolness underneath, but the fruit holds the opening on its own. Then the coconut water steps in, pulling the sweetness toward something lighter and more translucent. The white floral heart assembles gradually: ylang-ylang brings a creamy, slightly fruity floral weight, while tuberose absolute adds a denser, almost waxy floral depth. The two together create a bouquet that is generous without being heavy. As the hours pass, Bourbon Vanilla softens everything. The tuberose loses its edge. The mango becomes a ghost. White musk takes over the final stretch, wrapping the remaining vanilla in a clean, skin-like warmth.
