The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2024, Kevin Mathys set out to bridge two sensory worlds: the sunlit coastal breeze of the Mediterranean and the dense, aromatic landscape of the Arabian peninsula. The name Amore Di Mari reflects that ambition, translating as love of the sea while honoring Sunna musk's roots in London's contemporary fragrance scene. Mathys drew on his experience with both Western and Middle Eastern olfactory traditions, building a fragrance that speaks fluently across those cultures.
Each note in Amore Di Mari was selected to reinforce the fragrance's central dialogue between light and dark. The citrus opening represents the sea's surface shimmer, the resinous floral heart mirrors the depth beneath, and the patchouli-ambergris-moss base speaks to the ocean floor and ancient coastline. Tog ether, they form a complete arc that feels both natural and intentional.
The evolution
The journey begins with bergamot, grapefruit, and lemon a sharp, luminous citrus trio that sets the tone immediately. Within minutes, jasmine and lily enter as the heart, their petals unfurling against a backdrop of fir resin, which injects a quiet forest coolness into the composition. As time passes, patchouli and ambergris take over as the dominant players, with moss adding a final green, earthy murmur that lingers on skin for hours.
Cultural impact
Since its 2024 debut, Amore Di Mari has been noted for marrying bright Mediterranean citrus with the deep, earthy tones typical of Sunna musk’s Arabian‑inspired line. Fragrance forums praise its ability to transition from a sunny daytime vibe to an understated evening anchor, making it a favorite for those seeking a versatile, cross‑cultural scent that feels both modern and rooted in tradition.
