The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
We Are All Stardust sits in Sorce's Special Order collection, a lineup of compositions that reward slow attention over quick impression. Caitlin Hayes built the scent to hold a specific idea, one that connects the warmth of skin, the weight of matter, and the quiet intimacy of scent to a shared origin. Not cosmic. Not abstract. Just the simple recognition that everything tangible, from the body wearing the fragrance to the fragrance itself, is made of the same fundamental stuff. A sandalwood and beeswax composition that glows rather than declares.
The composition leans on materials with their own gravity. Australian sandalwood brings a creamy warmth that grounds the entire structure, giving the fragrance its soft, woody center. Beeswax absolute layers in that honeyed, waxy softness, lending a skin-like texture that feels immediately familiar even on first wear. Iso E Super threads through both, amplifying the wood and giving the skin beneath it a subtle radiance, a kind of velvety halo that lifts the heavier notes without pulling them into sharp focus. The labdanum and vanilla don't announce themselves.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are warmer than most openings. No sharp citrus to cut through, no bracing herbs. Just beeswax absolute arriving first, golden and slightly sweet, the kind of scent that recalls candle wax pooling on a warm wooden table. Underneath, the Australian sandalwood starts to unfold, creamy and grounded, with a faint nuttiness that deepens rather than fades. Iso E Super does its quiet work, hovering just at the edge of perception, lending a velvety haze to everything around it. The first half hour feels close to skin, almost muffled, like hearing music through a wall. Then something shifts. The labdanum and vanilla surface. The sweetness rounds out, becomes less honeyed and more amber-like, carrying a resinous undertone that was buried in the opening. By hour two, the composition has settled into a warm sandalwood skin scent with a soft, almost edible glow. The beeswax is still present but now it reads more like warmth than material.
Cultural impact
We Are All Stardust occupies a particular place within the Special Order line, the kind of composition that rewards repeat wear rather than a single dramatic impression. Its sandalwood and beeswax structure gives it a meditative quality, something that unfolds slowly across the day and reveals more of itself with each hour. The Special Order placement itself matters here, signaling that this is a fragrance intended for the person wearing it, not for applause. It isn't built to be the loudest bottle on any shelf, and the restraint feels deliberate.
