The Lovers arrived in 2024 as part of Sorce's A Love Story collection, a series that treats romance less as flowers and chocolate and more as the textures that actually draw two people close. Hayes composed this one as an extrait de parfum, a concentration that sits close to the skin and lets individual notes develop slowly over the course of a wear. The banana reads as intimacy, not novelty, the soft, slightly strange sweetness that someone close enough to notice. Hayes built the formula around iris and green banana as the central tension: one cool and mineral, one soft and almost edible. The result lands somewhere between clean skin and the humidity of a shared moment, a fragrance that asks to be experienced up close rather than broadcast across a room.
Green banana is a gamble in perfumery. Most fruit notes swing syrupy and synthetic, the kind of sweetness that reads as candy rather than scent.
