The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Caitlin Hayes crafted Moon Magic in 2022 wanting to bottle the atmosphere of a midnight witch's kitchen. She reached for lavender-sugar as a familiar comfort, then built around a steam accord to give it mineral clarity instead of heaviness. Masala chai followed, its spice pulling the herbal notes into something more indulgent.
Hayes sees the steam accord as a counterpoint to gourmand sweetness, keeping Moon Magic feeling fresh rather than cloying. The lavender grounds the composition in herbal territory while masala chai spices it with Eastern character. Milk and vanilla ground in warmth, letting the overall effect read as cozy without tipping into gourmand territory.
The evolution
The scent opens with lavender's herbal bite, quickly joined by steam accord's mineral lift. Masala chai spices emerge within minutes, blending with milk's creaminess into a warm, edible heart. Sugar sweetens the blend while vanilla and tonka deepen the finish. Cashmeran adds skin-like softness, and ambroxan extends the aftertaste for hours of quiet presence.
Cultural impact
Since its 2022 debut, Moon Magic has become a quiet favorite among indie‑fragrance fans who crave a cozy, gourmand vibe without overwhelming sweetness. Blogs cite its lavender‑sugar twist as a fresh take on chai‑spiced perfumes, and wearers often describe it as the scent of a midnight tea ceremony, making it a staple for winter evenings and creative gatherings.
