The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Follow Me Into The Deep grew out of Caitlin Hayes' fascination with the strange, disorienting peace that settles in when you sink below the surface of still water. She has spoken about the particular stillness of holding your breath underwater, that floating suspension where time loosens and the world above becomes muffled and distant. The salt lingers on the skin long after you climb out, and there's an odd duality to the whole experience: a heaviness in the chest paired with an almost luminous, wide-awake calm. Back in her studio, she began sketching a composition that could translate that specific sensation into something wearable, something that carries that submerged hush into the air above the skin.
Working as both the nose and brand owner behind Sorce, Caitlin Hayes approached the formula with patience, letting each trial teach her something new about balance and restraint. Early versions leaned too heavily in one direction or another, tipping too cold or too soft, too abstract or too literal, never quite landing in the still, floating register she was chasing. The breakthrough came when she refined the marine accord into something gentler and more translucent, a quiet wash of water rather than a crashing wave.
The evolution
Since its 2023 launch, Follow Me Into The Deep has settled into its identity with the kind of quiet confidence that marks a scent people reach for again and again. On the skin, the opening unfurls quickly: a cool, mineral-edged wash of water notes and bracing ambrette that prickles the senses like the first breath after surfacing. Within the first ten minutes, that cold clarity begins to soften as the warmer elements rise into focus, the ambrette blooming into something gently sunlit and the coconut milk thickening the composition into a creamier register. By the thirty-minute mark, the scent has settled into a milky, almost narcotic haze that blurs the line between water and warmth, fresh and languid, bright and tender.
Cultural impact
Follow Me Into The Deep arrived in 2023 and quickly carved out a devoted following among indie fragrance enthusiasts, particularly those drawn to scents that blur the line between fresh and gourmand. It became a quiet favorite in online fragrance communities, where collectors swapped notes about layering it with other summer-leaning scents and debated which seasons it truly belonged to. The fragrance earned spots on numerous best-of lists for indie and niche releases, celebrated for its willingness to dwell in that liminal zone between aquatic and edible, refreshing and indulgent.
