Brent Leonesio dropped Reindeer Games in 2010 as part of Smell Bent's Holiday 2010 collection. The holiday series was themed around warmth, comfort, and the kind of sensory shorthand winter demands, and Reindeer Games went all in on that brief. Built from fir resin, incense, amber, and poplar bud, the composition leans smoky-amber rather than sugary-sweet, making it more hearth than candy cane. The fir resin gives it that cold-air crispness right out of the bottle, while the amber grounds everything in a low, golden warmth that keeps the whole thing from feeling too austere. There's a quiet resinous depth from the incense that ties it all together, a thread of something almost architectural running beneath the sweeter facets.
The interesting move here is the note selection. Poplar bud isn't a standard holiday player. It's a balsamic, slightly leathery resin that adds a quiet bitterness most holiday fragrances skip.
