Why it exists.
The beginning
Mauricio Cerizza drew inspiration from the ritual of limoncello on Sicily's coast, where a chilled glass is passed among friends as the sun dips toward the sea. He set out to translate that ritual into scent, beginning with the island's prized citrus: Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian lemon. Rather than constructing a purely sweet interpretation, Cerizza anchored those bright materials in something more complex and grounded, keeping the ritual's warmth intact while adding depth that elevates it beyond a single-note concept.
The note pyramid reflects a philosophy of contrast: citrus brightness meets herbal complexity meets resinous depth. Cerizza paired bergamot and lemon to establish immediate Italian clarity, then introduced rosemary and juniper because they share terroir with Sicily's lemon groves and reinforce an authentic Mediterranean character. The drydown was designed as a deliberate departure, using ambroxan, black tea, and frank incense to shift the fragrance from summery brightness into something more contemplative and wearble across seasons.
The evolution
The fragrance begins the moment it touches skin, bergamot and lemon colliding in an effervescent citrus opening that reads as both tart and almost candied. Within twenty minutes, limoncello rises to the surface, its syrupy sweetness softened by Mediterranean herbs and a cool berry-like juniper note that lends unexpected complexity. By the second hour, the composition transforms as ambroxan introduces a warm, marine-amber quality, black tea rounds out the sweetness with bitter elegance, and frank incense settles into the base as a quiet smoky resin, leaving behind a scent that is meditative rather than loud.
