The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Splendiris arrived in 2019 as Parfums Dusita's expression of joy, a fragrance described by the house as a many-layered fragrant poem, evoking passion for life and self. Pissara Umavijani has built her house around translating emotional states into scent, not ingredient lists, but feelings. Splendiris is that philosophy made literal: powdery florals and green freshness combining into something the brand calls a blue dream of happiness with the eyes wide open. The composition draws on classical perfumery techniques while remaining firmly contemporary in its restraint, offering an intimate rather than assertive presence. It doesn't try to be loud. It tries to mean something.
The powdery iris direction is familiar in French perfumery, but Splendiris earns its place through the green-citrus opening, blood orange and mandarin keeping the violet and orris from becoming dusty or overly traditional. Jasmine sambac in the heart adds a tropical warmth that lends the composition a softer, more inviting character. Haitian vetiver in the base gives earthiness without the typical smoky dryness, grounding the florals and keeping the fragrance grounded in a natural register.
The evolution
The first minutes belong to green citrus, violet leaf and mandarin oil, bright and ozonic. The powder settles in gradually, orris butter appearing quietly, blending with the violet until the separation blurs and you're left with a soft, floral haze. The Grasse rose is subtle, more texture than statement, adding depth without asserting itself. The base builds slowly: vanilla arrives as cream, not sweetness, and the ambergris gives just enough marine warmth to keep the powder from cloying. As the hours pass, the composition shifts toward its drydown, cedar and vetiver grounding everything, the vanilla still present but quieter, softened by the woody elements. On fabric, the violet-and-iris lingers well into the following day. On skin, the fragrance projects as a close, intimate presence for six to eight hours, settling close to the wearer rather than announcing itself across a room.
Cultural impact
Splendiris occupies a particular space in niche perfumery: it's the kind of fragrance that appeals to people who've moved past projection as a priority. The powdery iris direction has historical precedent in the genre, but the green-citrus opening and jasmine sambac heart give it a fresher, more contemporary character that feels distinct from its predecessors. It asks something different of its wearer: attention. It rewards the person who notices their own scent rather than the person who wants others to notice it, presenting itself as an alternative to fragrances that compete for room-filling presence.
