Aichi Liu built Amaretto Coffee as part of Outsider Parfum's expanding catalog, and the name leaves nothing to the imagination. This is a gourmand built around the moment a coffee order turns into something stronger, when the espresso gets a splash of amaretto and the conversation shifts register. Outsider Parfum is a perfume house that tells the absurdities of life, as well as myths of civilization, and Amaretto Coffee feels like exactly that kind of story rendered in scent. The amaretto accord anchors everything, that almond-liqueur sweetness wrapping around roasted coffee like a shot poured into an espresso cup. White chocolate softens the edges while popcorn adds an unexpected crunch, and underneath it all, sandalwood and Texas cedar give the composition a dry, woody floor.
