Why it exists.
The beginning
Taboo With Makeup arrived in 2019. The perfumer, Mohammadreza Kazemian, used the launch to pose a question rather than sell an answer. The name itself does the work: taboo, the thing prohibited, set against makeup, the thing that seduces and covers. Kazemian built the fragrance around that contradiction, treating sin and surface as two sides of the same breath. The official framing is pointed. One is sin, one is pleasure. Which mirror is the distance between us? The composition lives inside that tension without resolving it. Fruity florals open the door, then the animalic undertow pulls the whole picture below the surface. Green notes cut through at the top, sharp and vegetal, almost like crushed stems still wet from the market.
The compositional choice that makes Taboo With Makeup worth examining is the meeting between castoreum and coconut. One reads as raw, leathery, almost bodily. The other reads as sweet, tropical, sunlit. Kazemian places them in the same heart, and the result isn't a clash but a slow contamination. The coconut loses its innocence. The castoreum picks up a strange, milky softness. Champaca adds the floral bridge, while cashmeran and powdery notes keep everything tactile rather than sharp. It's a deliberate trick. The fragrance seduces you first, then shows you what it actually is.
The evolution
The opening is the performance. Green notes lift, blackcurrant adds a tart edge, and the whole thing smells almost edible. Floral champaca curls through, and for a moment this could pass for a mainstream fruity-floral. Don't get comfortable. The castoreum arrives quietly, then takes over. The sweetness curdles into something warmer, muskier, and unmistakably animalic. Labdanum thickens the base, coconut still lingers but now reads waxy rather than fresh. This is where the duality the name promises actually shows up. The drydown settles into powdery musk with ambroxan humming underneath. It stays close to skin. What remains hours later is a faint talc-and-skin warmth, the kind of trace that makes you check your wrist before washing it off. The green notes fade first, leaving behind that brief edible sparkle as a memory.

Taboo With Makeup operates at the intersection of bold material choices and conceptual naming. The fragrance uses animalic castoreum, rich labdanum, and waxy coconut alongside softer elements like champaca and cashmeran, creating a composition that pushes against conventional mainstream perfumery.
