Daring Darling

Blackcurrant at the top carries genuine presence. It's the bud of the cassis fruit, sharp and green underneath the sweetness, more interesting than generic berry accords. Lavender in the heart acts as a bridge, pulling the fruit's brightness into the warmth below. Musk in the base keeps everything featherweight. The composition reads simple on paper and smells considered on skin. That's the trick. On skin, the opening fruit lingers longer than expected, slowly softening into something almost candied as the lavender begins to surface. That floral stage doesn't shout.

The evolution

First ten minutes is all blackcurrant. Loud, almost candied, the kind of sweetness that makes you check your wrist twice. Then the lavender surfaces, and the fruit doesn't vanish so much as get dressed. The green, slightly soapy quality of the lavender takes the edge off the berry and adds a clean linen feeling, like someone opened a window in a room that was getting too warm. Around the two-hour mark, the musk starts anchoring things. The blackcurrant fades to a memory, lavender steps back, and what remains is a soft, skin-warm white musk that reads more like clean laundry than perfume. It stays this way for another three to four hours, close to the skin, never projecting, never demanding attention. On fabric the next morning there's a faint trace of berries and soap. Light. Pleasant. Gone by noon.
