The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Marlou launched two new fragrances in 2025. Heliodose was one of them, the greener, more floral counterpoint. Perfumer Stéphanie Bakouche built it as the house's bright outlier, a composition that takes Marlou's philosophy into sunlit territory without losing the brand's signature edge. The name itself says it: helio (sun) and dose. This is warmth with intention.
The structure is deceptively simple. Galbanum at the opening, sharp, snapping, vegetal. Tiare at the heart, creamy, tropical, the scent of Polynesian gardens bathed in coconut oil. Indole threading through like a secret. Musk at the base, close and warm. What's interesting is the tension: Marlou is known for animalic, for the body's unfiltered reality. Heliodose takes that philosophy and applies it to green. Still honest. Still intimate. Still something not every nose will know what to do with.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, galbanum's sharp green, a twangy vegetable quality that snaps. Within minutes, tiare arrives, creamy and warm, softening everything. The heart is where it lives for most of the wear: a green-floral accord that stays bright but never fully leaves its vegetal roots. You catch the snapping of twigs throughout. Indole emerges around the 30-minute mark, a whisper of something animalic beneath the flowers. Then the drydown. Musk wraps everything into skin-close warmth. Tiare lingers. Indole stays quiet but present. The whole thing runs 8-10 hours on most skin types, moderate sillage, projection that keeps it intimate rather than announcing itself. The next morning? A faint warmth where you applied it. Nothing aggressive. Just the memory of green.
Cultural impact
Marlou built its following on animalic, scents that embrace the body's unfiltered reality. Heliodose is the house's green outlier, and it divided the room. Some found it too bright, too vegetal, too far from what they expected. Others appreciated the restraint: green without losing Marlou's edge. It stands apart from others in the line, blatantly vegetable to their animal, but shares the same philosophy. Still intimate. Still honest. Still something that rewards those willing to meet it on its terms.
