The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fashion arrived in 2018 as part of Louis Cardin's growing fragrance catalog, a release that treats the name as a literal brief. The brand built a reputation as a fashion house over the past three decades, and Fashion carries that same logic forward into scent: the way you present yourself when you walk through a door, the confidence of choosing something that reads as floral but carries enough structure to hold its own in any setting. Louis Cardin built it for the wearer who likes roses but refuses to smell like a garden. The composition is almost a manifesto in restraint, refusing the obvious choices and landing somewhere more particular.
What's interesting here is what the brand chose to leave out. The composition is a study in restraint: a floral-woody oriental that leans into white flowers and rose at its center, then anchors them with herbal and spicy notes rather than the dense resinous bases that dominate many similar releases. That choice keeps the scent lifted where it could have grown heavy, preserving an airiness in the heart that allows the rose to breathe.
The evolution
The opening is green and woody, the top notes almost architectural in their dryness. Rose arrives quickly, but it doesn't arrive alone. White flowers crowd around it, bright and slightly cool, like a room full of lilies catching afternoon light. The heart holds that floral intensity with conviction, the rose staying front and center while the white flowers provide a constant, slightly green halo. Then something shifts. The spices and herbal notes in the base start rising, not aggressively, but enough to change the temperature. What was cool and lifted becomes warmer, closer to the skin, more textured. The rose deepens rather than fades, picking up a faint peppery edge. On fabric the next morning, there's still a trace of that warm rosy-spicy whisper, intimate and a little lived-in.
Cultural impact
Fashion reads as a rose-forward floral with enough personality to stand apart from sweeter, more confectionary launches. Where many similar releases lean into dense sweetness or syrupy bases, this one strips back to rose, white flowers and a clean spicy-herbal drydown. That restraint gives the scent a versatility that rewards attention, allowing the herbal-spicy backbone to anchor the composition without overwhelming the florals above it.
