The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Emilio Valeros built this EDT Special Edition around a simple tension, clean citrus opening, warm spiced heart, soft powdery close. Launched in 2020 as a limited edition distinguished by its pink-toned cap and packaging. The composition opens with bright citrus that feels immediate and clear, transitioning into a heart where warm spice develops with subtle depth. The drydown settles into something soft and powdery, lingering close to the skin. This is a fragrance that offers presence without announcement, a quiet craft that rewards attention rather than demanding it.
What makes this composition interesting is how the orange blossom functions differently than typical citrus, it carries a floral softness that prevents the opening from reading as merely sharp. The lavender-cinnamon pairing in the heart is deliberately old-school aromatic, the kind of combination that's appeared in masculine fragrances for decades but here feels restrained rather than aggressive. The tonka bean in the base adds a coumarin sweetness that flirts with gourmand territory without crossing into it. The EDT concentration keeps everything transparent and skin-close rather than projected outward.
The evolution
First minutes are all citrus clarity, orange blossom, lemon, and lime combining into something that reads as morning light through thin curtains. The citrus doesn't fade so much as thin out, making space. Lavender arrives with quiet authority, and with it comes the warmth of Ceylon cinnamon, a spice that doesn't shout but lingers. Red pepper adds a barely-there tingle, just enough to keep the heart from becoming entirely soft. By hour three, the base begins its slow reveal, musk first, then sandalwood. The drydown is where this fragrance actually lives: skin-close, powdery, warm without weight. Tonka bean threads through, adding a creamy finish that extends the wear without projection. The full arc of development is substantial, with the final musk-and-sandalwood phase lasting the longest, creating a lingering warmth that stays close to the skin.
Cultural impact
The Loewe 001 collection launched in 2016, with the Man and Woman expressions designed to be layered or worn independently. The 2020 Special Edition for the Man variant introduced the distinctive pink cap and updated packaging while maintaining the original scent profile. This limited edition approach brings a fresh perspective to the brand's fragrance lineup, appealing to those who appreciate refined and understated luxury.
