The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lattafa Perfumes was founded in 1980 in Dubai by Sheikh Shahid Ahmad and co-founder Shoaib Iqbal, with a stated mission to create world-class fragrances honoring Arabian heritage at prices that did not require compromise. In-house production meant control over blending and aging that larger houses often surrendered to contract manufacturers. Peace & Love arrived in 2024 under the Lattafa Pride label, a name that functions as both nostalgia and declaration. The fragrance world had spent years chasing novelty, layering complexity upon complexity. This one suggested slowing down, taking the obvious idea seriously. Lattafa built its name on accessibility, on bringing Arabian perfumery traditions to anyone willing to spray. Peace & Love extends that mission into territory that feels welcoming rather than exclusive.
The note selection in Peace & Love reflects a philosophy of restraint over spectacle. Almond and Vanilla establish the sweet warmth the fragrance promises, but Bergamot and Blackcurrant interrupt that sweetness effortlessly. The floral heart of Rose and Tuberose is creamy rather than sharp, accessible rather than challenging. Sandalwood and Heliotrope close the composition with woody warmth and powdery softness respectively, notes that reward patience rather than demand it.
The evolution
The opening of Peace & Love begins with Almond and Blackcurrant playing against Bergamot, a top tier that balances sweetness with brightness. The Almond provides immediate creamy nuttiness. Blackcurrant adds a quick sour-fruited counterpoint that recedes early, leaving only the Bergamot to anchor the tart opening phase. As the top notes soften, Rose and Tuberose emerge in the heart, their combined floral presence growing heavier and creamier as they saturate the fragrance. The transition is gradual; the florals do not suddenly replace what came before but rather layer over the fading Almond while the Bergamot dissipates entirely. By the three-hour mark, Sandalwood and Vanilla take over, with Sandalwood providing a woody base that prevents the sweetness from becoming cloying. Heliotrope appears last, a quiet powdery finish that follows the wearer into the final hours. The trajectory is linear: bright and tart initially, lush and floral in the middle, warm and intimate at the end. Nothing fights for attention. Nothing disappears prematurely.
Cultural impact
Peace & Love has found its audience among those who want accessible luxury without compromise. Community ratings describe it as a reliable compliment-getter, strong projection, excellent longevity, and a warm, powdery drydown that works across office and evening contexts. Wearers draw comparisons to higher-end compositions including Guidance by Amouage, Soie Malaquais by Dries Van Noten, and Crystal Noir by Versace. That company matters. It suggests the scent profile, creamy, powdery, with a warm sandalwood base, has earned its place in a broader conversation about what affordability and quality can look like tog ether.
