The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Rudi Gabriel Bedy designed Urban Leather to capture the vibration of a modern city in flux. Launching in 2020 under the L'Ateliero Craving for it ethos, the fragrance mirrors urban energy: bright and kinetic at first encounter, then settling into something more grounded and certain of itself.
The note architecture balances opposites: bright berry sweetness against deep leather darkness, warm amber against cool white musk. Each layer serves a purpose, the wild berries and jasmine providing approachability while sandalwood, amber, and herbaceous notes ground the wearer. The leather-and-rose drydown ensures longevity without aggression, making this a considered urban companion rather than a statement piece.
The evolution
The scent begins with wild berries cutting sharp and tart against vanilla's softening warmth, jasmine threading through with green-floral brightness. As minutes pass, sandalwood and amber arrive to temper the playfulness, introducing warmth and resinous weight. Herbaceous notes add an organic layer, a breath of green earth that bridges the bright opening to the darker drydown. Leather finally assumes control, its textured animalism meeting white musk in a clean-yet-sensual embrace. Rose appears only at the end, a fleeting floral whisper that softens without compromising the leather's authority.
Cultural impact
Since its 2020 debut, Urban Leather has been noted for its modern take on classic leather accords, often mentioned alongside Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather and Rasasi’s La Yuqawam. Wearers describe it as the scent of a confident city dweller, a staple for evenings when the streets glow after dark. Its strong sillage and eight‑hour longevity have earned it a loyal following among niche‑fragrance enthusiasts seeking a fresh yet unmistakably leathery signature.
