The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Kajal Eau de Parfum arrived as the first expression of a new Parisian house. The brief was simple: capture the beauty of the female gaze, both magical and discreet. The result is an Oriental Floral that unfolds in layers across the skin. The opening brings bright citrus and delicate florals that transition smoothly into a heart of warm spices and soft woods. Over time, the fragrance deepens and evolves, revealing new facets as the initial brightness gives way to a rich drydown of amber and subtle musk. It became the house's signature from the very beginning, a fragrance that invites you to discover something new with each wearing.
The heart of Kajal is where it earns its name. Turkish rose and orris root form a floral core that prioritizes sophistication over decoration. These aren't the loud roses of mainstream florals. Here, the rose is velvet. The iris is powder. Together they create something that reads as elegance from the first spray. The warm base amplifies this quality, vanilla, tonka bean, amber, and Mysore sandalwood don't soften the powdery iris so much as surround it with cream.
The evolution
Kajal lasts. That opening trio of Amalfi lemon, mandarin, and Calabrian bergamot stays bright for maybe thirty minutes before the iris arrives and takes over. Once the powdery iris establishes itself, it doesn't leave. The tonka bean brings rum-like warmth underneath. The vanilla and amber in the base create a sweet, close warmth that stays near the skin rather than filling a room. Sandalwood adds creaminess. On some skin, this fragrance is still there the next morning. The sillage is strong, strangers will notice, but the character never changes. Same quiet elegance from opening to drydown.
Cultural impact
As the house's founding fragrance, Kajal established the brand's identity: elegance through restraint, strength through quietness. It remains the reference point for what Kajal means, powdery iris, warm vanilla, and the kind of sophistication that doesn't need to perform since its 2014 debut.
