Heritage
A house, in its own words
Jijide traces its origins to 2016, when a group of friends from China and Italy gathered to discuss their shared passion for fragrance and artistic expression. The conversation, rooted in contrasting cultural backgrounds yet united by creative ambition, laid the foundation for what would become the brand. According to multiple sources, the founding occurred in Milan, where the friends established their creative base. The brand name itself reflects this cross-cultural ethos, drawn from a concept that bridges linguistic and philosophical traditions. Adam James Cavallari emerged as one of the principal co-founders, representing the bridge between Italian craftsmanship and international perspectives. Rather than launching with a commercially-driven strategy, Jijide positioned itself as an artistic perfumery house that would evolve organically through what the founders described as an olfactory dialogue. The brand gained wider recognition around 2021 when it introduced its Dialogue Collection, featuring fragrances with bilingual naming systems that referenced both Italian and Chinese cultural elements. Each release in this collection carried dual titles, such as Armonia Di Agrumi (LIAN YEN 良言) and Scrigno Celeste (ZE BAI 紫柏), signaling the brand's commitment to its cross-cultural identity. The house has continued to expand its portfolio in subsequent years, releasing new compositions while maintaining its founding principle of collective creative dialogue.
At the heart of Jijide's ethos lies the belief that perfumery functions as a form of dialogue. The brand rejects the traditional model of fragrance creation as a solitary artistic endeavor, instead embracing a collaborative approach where multiple voices shape each composition. This dialogic philosophy manifests in the brand's very structure, born from conversation between friends from different cultural backgrounds. The founders view fragrance as a medium for communication between cultures, a way to translate Eastern and Western sensibilities into a shared sensory language. Each Jijide fragrance represents not merely a scent but an ongoing exchange between creative perspectives, raw materials, and the individuals who encounter them. The brand describes itself as evolving over time through what it terms collective dialogue, suggesting that each fragrance serves as a chapter in an ongoing conversation rather than a definitive statement. This philosophy extends to how the brand presents itself, using bilingual naming conventions and culturally resonant imagery that invites engagement from multiple audiences simultaneously.
