Nour Akoum
Nour Akoum bridges two worlds. French by birth, Lebanese by heritage, she brings that cross-cultural sensibility to every composition she creates. Her path into perfumery began with chemistry—an undergraduate degree that gave her a rigorous understanding of molecular structures and raw materials. But Nour wanted more than laboratory precision. She pursued the European Fragrance & Cosmetics Masters at ISIPCA in Paris, immersing herself in the art and science of scent creation. Today, she works as an independent perfumer, a status that grants her creative freedom increasingly rare in an industry dominated by large houses. She is a member of the French Society of Perfumers, a professional affiliation that places her within a distinguished tradition of nose work. Nour's independence means she answers to no marketing departments or seasonal release cycles—only her own creative instincts. Her dual heritage informs her palette, allowing her to draw from both Eastern and Western aromatic traditions without confining herself to either.

How Nour composes
Nour's technical foundation in chemistry shapes her methodical approach to formulation. She treats raw materials as language, learning their grammar before composing sentences. Her training at ISIPCA grounded her in classical perfumery structures while encouraging contemporary interpretation. She favors thoughtful material selection over excessive complexity, favoring compositions where each ingredient has clear purpose. Her Lebanese background gives her natural fluency with oriental materials—oud, amber, resins—while her French education provides equal command of European sensibilities: florals, chypre structures, green and citrus notes. The result is a style that moves fluidly between traditions without belonging exclusively to either.
Philosophy
What drives Nour
For Nour, perfumery is about precision meeting emotion. She believes a fragrance must do more than smell pleasant—it should tell a story, evoke memory, create atmosphere. Her work prioritizes authenticity over trend-following. She has spoken about the freedom she now enjoys as an independent practitioner, a freedom that allows her to take creative risks and develop compositions at their own pace. Nour views perfumery as a dialogue between the perfumer and the wearer, one that unfolds differently depending on skin chemistry, mood, and context. She does not chase commercial formulas; she builds scents that feel necessary, almost inevitable, as if they existed before she gave them form.
