The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2017 Hind Al Oud sought to capture the richness of deep-red wine in liquid form, translating that vivid hue into scent. The house draws on its Emirati roots and a philosophy of transforming emotion into perfume. The perfumer chose to work with bright orange and tart cranberry as a foundation, nods to the fruit-laden markets of Dubai and Abu Dhabi where these ingredients are familiar and beloved. The vanilla was added to provide the warmth necessary to balance the sharper fruit notes, creating something that feels both celebratory and grounded.
The decision to build Burgundy around cranberry, orange, and vanilla reflects a belief that fruit notes deserve structural support. Cranberry brings acidity that prevents sweetness from overwhelming; orange supplies brightness that keeps the composition lively; vanilla grounds these elements with warmth. Tog ether they create a fragrance that feels neither overly sweet nor too sharp, suitable for the celebratory occasions and Intimate gatherings where Hind Al Oud perfumes are typically worn.
The evolution
The scent journey begins the moment Burgundy meets skin, with cranberry and orange arriving simultaneously in a bright, fruity burst. Vanilla follows within seconds, its creamy presence softening the tartness of the cranberry. As time passes, the cranberry maintains its presence but gradually loses intensity, while the vanilla grows more pronounced. By the later hours, the fragrance settles into a warm vanilla-orange blend that lingers comfortably on skin. This evolution is subtle rather than dramatic, with no sharp transitions between stages.
Cultural impact
Since its 2017 debut, Burgundy has resonated with a diverse audience, bridging traditional Emirati perfume heritage with contemporary fruit‑forward trends. Its orange and cranberry opening nods to regional citrus orchards, while the warm vanilla‑tonka base reflects the comforting hospitality of Gulf evenings. Wearers often cite the scent as a bridge between festive celebrations and everyday confidence, noting its ability to evoke both nostalgia for family gatherings and the modern allure of urban nightlife. This cultural crossover has helped Hind Al Oud expand its reach beyond the Middle East, positioning Burgundy as a scent that celebrates both heritage and global modernity.
