The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Hind Al Oud, founded in Dubai in 2001, built its reputation on the artful marriage of traditional Arabian oud with contemporary fragrance composition. Ahojas, released in 2017, emerged from a desire to capture the sensory contrast between a desert sunrise and a night-time camp fire, two moments that define Gulf evenings and mornings.
The pairing of honey with fig in the opening was deliberate: fig brings the green, slightly lactonic counterweight that keeps honey from becoming cloying, while honey elevates fig from being merely green to something richer and more golden. Tobacco bridges these early notes to the oud by sharing aromatic compounds that allow for a seamless hand-off. The oud at the drydown stage is the intended destination, representing the brand's core expertise and heritage.
The evolution
The narrative arc begins with honey and fig, evoking the sticky sweetness of early morning dates consumed at sunrise. As the morning transitions to afternoon, white tobacco enters the composition, suggesting smoke from a distant fire and the lazy pace of siesta hours. By evening, the fig and honey have receded entirely, leaving only the dark warmth of oud burning quietly in the air, much like embers settling after a camp fire dies down. This progression mirrors the arc of a desert day itself, from immediate sweetness to eventual calm depth.
Cultural impact
Since its 2017 debut, Ahojas has become a conversation starter in both Middle Eastern and European niche circles. Wearers often report that the scent draws compliments and curiosity, with strangers commenting on its luxurious yet distinct character. Its blend of fig, honey, and tobacco sets it apart from more traditional oud‑centric offerings, positioning it as a modern bridge between classic Arabian perfume heritage and contemporary gourmand trends.
