Heritage
A house, in its own words
The story of Hind Al Oud begins in 2001 when Mohamed Hilal, a long‑time fragrance entrepreneur, launched a new line dedicated to Arabic perfumery. Hilal had already built a portfolio of scent brands, and he created Hind Al Oud to focus exclusively on the rich olfactory language of the Gulf. Early releases centered on classic oud, rose, and amber accords, reflecting the market’s appetite for deep, resinous compositions. By 2014 the house expanded its distribution beyond the United Arab Emirates, securing placements in specialty boutiques across the Middle East and a handful of European retailers. 2017 marked a notable year: the launch of Emarati Oud, a fragrance that combined Omani agarwood with subtle spice notes, and the introduction of a limited‑edition bottle named Hind, which quickly attracted attention from collectors. The following years saw the addition of niche releases such as Barari, Patchouli, and the 2021 offering You Never Know, each accompanied by a modest marketing push on social platforms and fragrance forums. In 2023 Hind Al Oud opened a flagship boutique on Sheikh Zayed Road, providing a curated space where customers can experience the brand’s oils, incense, and skin‑care line. Throughout its two‑decade journey the house has maintained a steady output of new scents while preserving a core commitment to Arabic aromatic traditions, a balance that has earned it a loyal following among regional perfume enthusiasts. Hind Al Oud frames its creative work as an exploration of emotion through scent. The brand states that each fragrance is meant to capture a particular feeling, whether it is the quiet confidence of a desert night or the vibrant energy of a market street. This emotional focus guides the selection of raw materials, encouraging perfumers to pair traditional oud with unexpected accents such as citrus, floral, or woody notes. The house also emphasizes respect for regional heritage; it frequently references historic Arabian perfume practices while allowing room for contemporary interpretation. Sustainability appears in its statements as well, with a pledge to source ingredients responsibly and to minimize waste in packaging. By positioning itself at the intersection of cultural memory and modern design, Hind Al Oud seeks to offer scents that feel both familiar and novel to a global audience.
