The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ocean Side Hair Mist arrived in 2025 as part of Gissah's expanding catalogue of narrative-driven scents, the Kuwait-based house that builds each release around a specific image or moment. This one draws from the simplest version of summer: ocean air, the kind of heat that makes you want to stand still. It comes as a hair mist, not a traditional EDP, which shifts the intent. The point isn't projection or longevity theatre. It's a thin veil of something refreshing that moves with you, soft enough to layer, present enough to notice when the wind catches it right.
The note structure here is a study in restraint. Orange and coconut handle the brightness without tipping into suntan lotion territory. Watermelon and aquatic notes build the wet, ozonic impression at the heart. Then sandalwood and amberwood anchor the whole thing, which is what separates this from a hundred other aquatic body mists that vanish into the air. The woody base gives the composition something to stand on. Without it, this would be another sweet, fleeting summer spray. With it, the drydown holds a quiet warmth that lingers past the tropical impression.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are the loud this gets. Orange zest opens sharp and sweet, almost candied, and the coconut arrives immediately after, creamy and warm rather than cold or synthetic. The combination reads bright, almost aggressive in its friendliness. Then the heart takes over. Watermelon softens everything, the sharp citrus melting into something pulpy and fresh, while the aquatic notes push the whole composition into cooler territory. This is the actual 'ocean side' moment, the salt and breeze impression, the watery coolness of a July afternoon. The transition from opening to heart takes maybe twenty minutes and feels like watching a wave roll in. The drydown is quieter. Sandalwood shows up first, smooth and slightly milky, followed by amberwood's warmer, resinous edge. The tropical sweetness recedes almost entirely. What remains is a soft, woody warmth that sits close to the skin. On hair specifically, this phase lasts longer than expected, the woody base catching on strands and releasing slowly through the day.
Cultural impact
Ocean Side Hair Mist enters a category that's grown significantly in 2025, as niche houses expand into hair and body mists as a complement to their EDP offerings. Gissah's version leans into the same story-driven approach the house applies to its core line, treating the hair mist format as a legitimate composition rather than a scented afterthought. It sits alongside the house's growing catalogue of aquatic and fresh-leaning releases.
