The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
French Avenue operates under Fragrance World, a UAE-based house that built its reputation on accessible luxury. Rather than inventing entirely new olfactory structures, the brand skillfully interprets trending fragrance profiles, making high-quality interpretations available without the luxury markup. Royal Blend Bourbon channels something specific: the warmth of whiskey, the weight of oak, the sharp edge of cinnamon. This 2025 release takes that signature approach and applies it to the bourbon fragrance category, delivering an authentic whiskey bar experience in extrait form.
The note selection reflects a clear philosophy: whiskey needs spiced brightness at the opening to feel inviting, not heavy. Bark and cinnamon provide that warmth while basil and mint offer freshness. The heart focuses purely on bourbon whiskey and lavender, two notes that naturally complement each other, the spirit and the herb. The drydown emphasizes oak from two origins, American and French, because each brings slightly different barrel characteristics. Balsamic notes serve as the bridge, connecting the spirit warmth to the woody depth.
The evolution
The fragrance opens with bark and cinnamon creating an immediate spiced warmth, but basil and mint keep it from feeling heavy from the start. As the top notes settle, bourbon whiskey emerges as the heart, bringing the signature warmth and slight sweetness of aged spirits. The progression into the drydown marks the full arrival of the oak character: American oak wood CO2 and French oak wood CO2 provide deep, smoky barrel depth. Balsamic notes complete the composition with resinous sweetness, extending the wear and grounding the whiskey-oak combination in something that lingers.
Cultural impact
Royal Blend Bourbon occupies a specific niche: dense, boozy, full-bodied whiskey fragrance done without the niche price tag. Winter wearers and bourbon lovers gravitate toward it for the strong longevity, realistic bourbon-oak character, and value that genuinely competes with higher-end niche boozies. The polarizing feedback, some find it harsh, others find it the most honest whiskey scent at this price, comes from the same source: it doesn't soften itself to please everyone.
