The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The MINT Energy launched in 2025 as part of the Essentials by Jeremy Fragrance collection. This one belongs to the energy slot. The brief, if the naming tells you anything, was a clean lift. Peppermint is the obvious tool for that job, and the brand chose Sumatran peppermint specifically, steam-distilled for the composition. The supporting cast, ginger, juniper, mandarin, exists to keep the mint from going clinical, to add a little warmth and sparkle around it so the composition reads alive instead of mentholated. There's a green snap from the juniper that lifts the whole opening, a piney brightness that gives the mint something to push against rather than letting it sit flat on the skin.
Peppermint is everywhere in mainstream fragrance, but it usually shows up as an accent. Center-staging it, as Fragrance One does here, is a different exercise. The mint has to carry mood, not just brightness. Sumatran peppermint brings a particular weight to that job. The result is a mint that smells less like toothpaste and more like the plant itself, leaf and stem included. The variety carries an herbaceous quality that comes through almost immediately, less confectionery and more botanical.
The evolution
The opening is the part that gets attention, a cold rush of peppermint wrapped in ginger and mandarin, with juniper berries threading through to keep it from feeling one-note. That initial spike settles as the composition warms against the skin. The mint stays, but it loses its toothpaste edge and takes on something leafier, almost like crushed spearmint stem rather than the oil itself. The composition begins to dry, and that's when the tea and floral notes surface, giving it a slightly dusty, aromatic softness. Vetiver creeps in underneath, adding a clean grassiness that makes the whole thing read outdoorsy without going into aquatic territory. The musk in the base is quiet, more a texture than a presence, and it's what makes the scent sit close to skin rather than projecting outward. The drydown is where The MINT Energy earns its longevity.
Cultural impact
By blending spicy ginger with the green snap of juniper berries and the bright zest of mandarin orange, Fragrance One builds a composition that reads alert and alive. The choice to make mint the lead note rather than a side accent reflects an appetite for scents that feel direct and functional. Ginger contributes a clean, almost peppery warmth that activates the composition immediately, while juniper gives it that coniferous edge, the scent of something freshly broken or crushed. Mandarin adds a fleeting citrus sweetness that softens the opening without dulling it.
