The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fascent, the French niche house established in 2022, built its identity on a singular premise: translating vivid visual hues into scent form. I Fig You arrived in 2023 as an aromatic rendering of a splash of green, specifically the vivid shade of a freshly plucked fig leaf. The name itself represents the brand's playful approach to visual pun, where colour becomes scent and scent becomes conversation. Co-created by Fascent's in-house perfumer and founded on the house's commitment to translating vivid chromatic moments into olfactory narratives, this fragrance represents the brand's philosophy that colour and scent are deeply intertwined senses, each capable of summoning the other.
The note selection for I Fig You reflects a purist approach to the fig leaf experience, prioritizing the leaf itself over the fruit or sap. Green Tea and Sage reinforce the verdant, garden-fresh quality, while Citrus fruits keep the opening lively and accessible. Carrot Seed, often underutilized in mainstream perfumery, adds unexpected warmth that bridges the green heart to the woody base. Cedarwood and Vetiver complete the picture by providing the grounded, lasting quality that fig leaf scents need to evolve beyond simple greenery into something more complex and durable. This layered structure ensures that each phase of wear delivers something distinct, from bright opening to green heart to woody conclusion.
The evolution
The fragrance arc begins with Green Tea, Sage, and Citrus fruits lifting the composition into something immediately bright and clarifying. Citrus fruits provide the initial spark, Green Tea adds a cool, almost aquatic clarity, and Sage lends an aromatic herbal quality that feels hand-gathered. Within minutes, Fig Leaf takes over as the heart's protagonist, its green, slightly milky presence marking the fragrance's identity as a true fig-forward scent rather than a fig-fruit fragrance. Carrot Seed deepens this green heart, adding warmth and earthiness that prevents the scent from becoming overly vegetal. The drydown introduces Cedarwood and Vetiver, shifting the story from green garden to woody landscape, with Cedarwood providing dry warmth and Vetiver contributing the smoky, slightly bitter finish that lingers hours after application.
Cultural impact
Since its 2023 debut, I Fig You has been noted for its fresh, garden‑like vibe that resonates with a generation seeking playful, gender‑fluid fragrances. Bloggers praised its vivid colour metaphor and approachable green‑fresh character, while niche forums highlighted its balance of novelty and wearability, positioning it as a go‑to everyday scent for both men and women.
