The beginning
Musk Mood arrived in 2025 as part of Ensar Oud's EO Bespoke collection. The fragrance introduces itself with a clear focus: musk as the central axis, not the soft, soapy kind most people picture. This is musk as weight, as presence, as something that anchors a dense floral and wood composition without disappearing into it. Musk Mood is built around materials that carry their own gravity, the kind of ingredients that don't need decoration or softening to make their point. The composition brings together oud, sandalwood, florals, and Tonkin musk in a structure that feels intentional rather than layered for its own sake. Every element pulls toward the center, toward that musky gravity the name promises.
What makes Musk Mood unusual is the presence of multiple agarwood expressions alongside traditional sandalwood. Indian oud and Cambodian oud both appear in the formula, each bringing its own character. The Cambodian oud carries a deep, smoky weight, while Indian oud adds a resinous depth that sits beneath the florals. Hyacinth, acacia, violet, and a rush of supporting florals provide the lift, brightening the woods and keeping the composition from collapsing under its own weight.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are busy. Hyacinth opens green and watery, violet adds a soft powder, and the oud arrives underneath like furniture being moved into a room before guests arrive. The sweetness from acacia and coconut shows up early, giving the opening a candied edge that softens the woods. Around the one-hour mark, the composition shifts. The florals retreat, jasmine and rose moving to the edges. Blue lotus, mimosa, and a trace of coffee push through, adding something almost liquefied. The Cambodian oud thickens in the background, its smoky weight becoming more present as the brighter notes begin to settle. By hour three, sandalwood and Tonkin musk have taken over. The woods blend into something warm and slightly animalic, the musk pulling everything closer to skin. The composition doesn't fade politely.
