The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Be Tempted Eau So Blush arrived in 2016 as DKNY's softer interpretation of the Be Tempted concept, the house's flanker tradition applied to its own apple-inspired lineup. Where the original played up temptation's sharp edge, this one blushes. The campaign featured Abbey Lee Kershaw, whose look, polished but with an edge, fit the brief exactly. She wasn't posing. She was just there, and everyone noticed.
What makes this structure work is the way the opening and drydown resist each other. Pink grapefruit hits sharp, citrus with real bite. But magnolia is creamy, almost waxy, and that quality emerges quickly and never fully lets go. Red currant adds tartness without the aggression of blackcurrant. Together, they produce something bright yet softened. The heart, peony and jasmine, carries actual weight. Jasmine can go heavy, but here it reads warm rather than intoxicating. Cedar holds everything down, keeps the florals from floating away. The apricot in the base doesn't smell like the fruit. It smells like the memory of sweetness, soft, slightly powdery, human.
The evolution
The opening announces itself confidently: pink grapefruit and blood orange, tart and awake. Magnolia arrives within minutes, smoothing the edges. The red currant is the quietest top note, present but never dominant, keeping the brightness from becoming sharp. By the time you reach the heart, the citrus has settled into peony's softer register. Jasmine adds warmth. Cedar holds the florals to the skin. The transition is seamless, no gap between phases, no moment where the fragrance seems to reset. The drydown belongs to apricot and musk. The woody base lingers longest, blending with the musk into something skin-close and warm. The apricot note adds a juicy sweetness that softens the musk, creating a creamy texture that feels intimate against the skin.
Cultural impact
Be Tempted Eau So Blush arrived as a flanker to the original Be Tempted line, bringing a softer expression to the franchise. The fragrance combines pink grapefruit and magnolia, creating a bright opening that feels contemporary and fresh. The apricot-musky drydown gives it distinction, adding warmth and depth as the scent settles into the skin. This composition balances fruity brightness with floral softness, creating something that feels both modern and timeless. The fragrance invites discovery, offering a layered experience that rewards attention.
