The beginning
Cool Water Sensual Essence arrived in 2012 as the warmer, sweeter counterpart to Davidoff's iconic aquatic line. Nathalie Lorson signed the work. The fragrance is built to bring the Cool Water universe toward evening, toward skin, toward something softer and more intimate, without abandoning the clean, accessible DNA the line is known for. Where the original Cool Water reached for ocean spray and open sky, Sensual Essence trades that brightness for a candlelit warmth. The aquatic backbone remains, but it's been redrawn with warmer brushstrokes. The result is a composition that keeps the brand's water imagery while shifting the mood entirely, holding onto the same freshness but recasting it in a more intimate register.
What makes the structure interesting is how Lorson avoids the typical aquatic-floral formula. Instead of relying on the usual marine and ozonic materials, she builds sweetness in early through red fruits, then warms the heart with vanilla, an unusual placement for that material in a fragrance of this style. The vanilla does bridge work: it pulls the citrus opening into the floral core and previews the musk-wood base before the drydown arrives. Driftwood in the base keeps things dry and clean rather than earthy or creamy.
The evolution
The opening belongs to red fruits and citrus, sharp and bright, almost like a chilled cocktail with the rim still cold. From there, frangipani and orchid arrive in the heart, and the vanilla underneath starts pulling the composition toward something creamier. The floral phase wears warm and noticeably sweet but not cloying, holding its shape across most of the wear. Once the heart fades, the musk and driftwood take over. The drydown is the quiet part: clean, slightly powdery, with a wood note that reads more like sun-bleached boardwalk than forest. On fabric, the vanilla base lingers into the next day. On pulse points, the composition holds presence for a solid stretch before settling into a soft skin scent, the kind of scent that stays close and personal rather than projecting wide.

The fragrance wears soft and approachable, the kind of scent that works without demanding attention. Bianca Balti fronted the campaign, lending the launch a recognizable face and a warm, contemporary energy.
