The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
CZAR's first chapter carried a quiet kind of intention. Stallion was part of that debut, released through The Velvet Collection, a lineup of textures meant to be felt rather than catalogued. The brand chose Turkish perfumer Aslan Gülçiçek as its creative partner for this collaboration, and the composition shows what happens when a perfumer's instinct for restraint meets a brief that could have easily tipped into spectacle. Fewer notes than you'd expect, each one doing real work. Bergamot opens the door, leather takes the lead, amber rounds the edges, and sandalwood threads underneath the whole time. There's no noise here, no overstatement. The formula strips itself back to materials that don't need translation, the kind of raw elements that speak without a glossary.
What's interesting here is the economy of it. Bergamot opens the door, then leather and amber take over the room, with sandalwood threading underneath the entire time. The composition strips itself down to materials that don't need translation. Sandalwood carries the warmth, lending a creamy softness that cushions everything around it. Leather gives the formula gravity, anchoring the lighter notes with something denser and more tactile. Amber rounds the edges, smoothing the transitions between each phase of the wear.
The evolution
The bergamot arrives first and leaves first, a brightness that pointed to what was coming. Then the leather takes over, and it's not the soft suede kind. It's closer to a well-worn saddle, something that smells like it's been handled for years. Sandalwood is underneath the whole time, but it doesn't take its full shape until the amber settles in. By the second hour the composition has shifted from something bright and directional into something warm and close. The powdery quality creeps in late, softening the leather's edges without losing its character. What's left on skin the next morning is mostly ambergris and sandalwood, a quiet warmth that survives the shower and the coffee and the morning routine. The leather doesn't vanish as the hours pass; it simply mellows, losing the saddle's sharper edges and settling into something closer to worn velvet.
Cultural impact
Stallion arrived as one of CZAR's earlier releases, part of the Velvet Collection that helped shape the house's early output. It wears like a composition built for cooler weather, grounded enough for evenings when the temperature drops, and warm enough to feel like an answer to a draft. The kind of scent that earns a second glance from someone passing close enough to catch it. There's a versatility to how it reads on different wearers, shifting slightly with skin chemistry but holding to its core structure.
