VIII Rococo Immortelle

The pyramid places immortelle at its center, allowing that distinctive character to dominate without competition. Bergamot and lemon dissolve into it, papyrus and vetiver emerge beneath it. The three base notes, papyrus, vetiver, amber, provide a foundation that gives the drydown its depth and staying power. There's a sense that the fragrance moves as one continuous composition rather than shifting through disconnected phases.

The evolution

The citrus hits first, bergamot and lemon arriving together, bright and immediate. Then the immortelle begins to assert itself, its character emerging through the citrus like sunlight breaking through. As the composition develops, the citrus recedes and the immortelle takes command. The drydown brings papyrus first, with its dry, almost paper-like quality that cuts through the earlier brightness. Vetiver follows, adding earth and smoke, and amber arrives last, warming everything underneath. The immortelle persists through the entire drydown, evolving from dominant note into something quieter, present but restrained. On skin, the fragrance maintains its presence well into the evening.
