The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Beach Vibes arrived in 2023 as Clean Classics' answer to the season's promise. The brief was simple: bottle the first hour at the shore, before the crowd arrives and after the sun has done its work. Perfumer Jérôme Epinette reached for Italian mandarin zest, pear blossom, and a Bellini accord, not to create a cocktail, but to capture that particular brightness of light on water. The sea salt and water lily came next, translating the ocean's coolness into something you could wear inland. Ambergris and New Caledonian sandalwood were the final move, the base that makes it feel like skin, not like a memory of someone else's vacation.
The Bellini accord is the quiet revelation here. Pear blossom and mandarin are straightforward enough, fruity, bright, expected in a summer release. But pairing them with marine notes and sea salt creates a tension that most beach fragrances sidestep: sweetness that doesn't read as sugary, salt that doesn't read as skanky. It's the difference between a perfume that smells like you bought it at an airport duty free and one that smells like you spent three weeks somewhere with no phone signal. The water lily keeps the heart from tipping into sunscreen territory. Clean rarely overreaches, and Beach Vibes is a case study in restraint done well.
The evolution
The opening hits quickly, mandarin zest and the Bellini accord arrive together, all brightness and carbonation. Thirty minutes in, the marine notes take over and the sweetness recedes, leaving sea salt and water lily in quiet conversation. The heart lasts about two hours before ambergris begins to surface, bringing a skin-warm quality that shifts the whole composition from aquatic to something more intimate. The sandalwood and white cedar anchor the base, keeping it close to the skin for the final stretch. On most skin types, Beach Vibes fades gracefully, not a dramatic drydown, more like the last bit of warmth in a towel fresh from the dryer. Four to six hours, intimate sillage, gone by bedtime.
Cultural impact
Beach Vibes sits in a crowded lane, summer aquatics are a dime a dozen, but it distinguishes itself through restraint. Clean has never been a house that chases projection or longevity numbers. Beach Vibes is for the person who wants to smell like they just came from somewhere, not like they bathed in something.
