The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Miroslav Petkov reached for Anna Pavlova. Not the mythology, the woman. A dancer whose stages spanned multiple continents, whose performances left audiences transfixed. The 2025 release channels that specific tension: a swan that never stopped moving, even when the music stopped. Petkov built the composition around immortelle, a flower long associated with endurance. That became the brief. Not a memorial. A continuation.
Immortelle sits at the heart of this pyramid for a reason. It carries a honeyed warmth and a faint tobacco facet that behaves unlike any standard floral, it doesn't soften into sweetness, it deepens into something almost resinous. Paired with green mandarin's bright citrus top, the combination creates an unusual tension: an opening that reads airy and radiant, then a heart that grows warmer and more insistent as it settles. Cedarwood and white musk hold the base together, keeping the warmth close without ever letting it become heavy.
The evolution
The green mandarin arrives first. Sharp. Bright. That citrus clarity persists before the immortelle starts asserting itself, pushing through with a warm, honeyed presence that catches you off guard if you weren't expecting it. By the heart phase, the composition has shifted entirely, the immortelle takes command, its golden solar quality filling the space the citrus left behind. There's a herbal edge underneath that keeps the sweetness honest. The base arrives quietly. Cedarwood and white musk create a sense of a dancer at rest, stillness after movement, but never stillness that fades. The vanilla and amber add warmth without weight. As the hours pass, the immortelle lingers longest, holding its warm herbal presence close.
Cultural impact
Part of Botanicae's Great Journeys Collection, The Swan appeals to those who treat fragrance as a personal language. The house's focus on discovery over spectacle attracts wearers who seek nuance and depth. Immortelle as a heart note sets this composition apart from more conventional floral work, offering something with a honeyed, warm quality that feels both distinctive and grounded.
