The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Élixir 1 arrived in 2025 from a house that knows how to keep quiet. Atelier Rebul treats its Parfum Artisanal line as the cleanest expression of its habit, a deliberate restraint that shows up in every bottle. Alberto Morillas composed this one, and the choice says plenty. Bergamot, neroli, cedar, and Paradisone®, four ingredients given exactly the room they need and nothing more. Nothing ornamental. Nothing apologetic. Just a fresh-woody composition that does one thing with absolute confidence. The citrus opens with a clarity that cuts through the air, sharp enough to wake up a room but never aggressive, and the cedar grounds it with a dry, almost architectural woodiness.
The note list runs longer than four, and the fact that it coheres at all is part of the appeal. White tea, pink pepper, jasmine, iris, and mimosa all make an appearance, yet none of them announce themselves loudly. Paradisone® anchors the blend, a modern aromatic molecule that brings a clean, luminous quality without tipping into the sharp sourness pure grapefruit can carry. Neroli gives it lift and a soft floral breath, while jasmine and iris weave a quiet, powdery thread through the heart.
The evolution
The opening belongs to bergamot, sharp and clean with that just-squeezed zest quality that makes the air around you smell brighter. Neroli joins almost immediately, softening the edges without dulling them, and white tea adds a pale, almost translucent softness underneath. Pink pepper flickers briefly at the edges, warm but never spicy in the conventional sense. Then something interesting happens: the citrus pulls back and cedar steps forward, and the whole scent shifts register from cologne to something more textured. The jasmine and iris settle into the middle distance, lending a quiet, soapy floral quality that never crosses into heavy territory, while mimosa adds a soft, almost honeyed warmth that catches the light. The Paradisone® keeps the lift alive even as the cedar takes over, which is the trick: it stays fresh-woody rather than tipping into furniture polish.
Cultural impact
Élixir 1 lives in the territory of fresh-woody compositions that have become a quiet staple of contemporary perfumery. Wearers comparing it to LV Imagination and Afternoon Swim put it precisely: airy, with a white-floral-adjacent quality, and less of the ambroxan sweetness those compositions lean on. It shares that same clean, almost weightless character that makes a scent easy to reach for across seasons. The bergamot gives it a familiar brightness, while the cedar and iris keep it grounded without tipping into heaviness. It's the kind of scent that wears well in warm weather, stays out of its own way, and asks nothing of the room.
