The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The 2023 Limited Edition marks Atelier des Ors returning to Lune Féline with Marie Salamagne at the composition. The name evokes something feline and lunar, a duality that suggests both warmth and shadow. Lune Féline draws on the contrast between spice and vanilla, between the light and dark facets of its character. The composition builds on that tension, creating a fragrance that feels both inviting and mysterious. Every house has that one fragrance the perfumer can't leave alone. This is Atelier des Ors doing exactly that.
The original Lune Féline already had a following. The vanilla here takes on a dark, animalistic character that cuts through expectations. The vanilla isn't a comfort note, it's bold, and that boldness creates the fragrance's edge. The spice doesn't flirt. It arrives and stays. This is the difference between a fragrance made to please and one that refuses to be ignored.
The evolution
The spices arrive bright. Cinnamon and cardamom announce themselves immediately, pink pepper adding a warmth that prickles without sharpness. For the first moments, this is all heat. Then the transition begins. Cedar and styrax arrive warm and woodsy, ambergris lending an animalic whisper. The composition shifts from bold introduction to something more intimate. The vanilla settles, Peru balsam adding richness. The musk keeps it close, dark, lingering on the skin in a way that feels personal. Intimate. Yours alone.
Cultural impact
The vanilla with a bite is the polarizing element, and that's precisely the point. The fragrance invites strong reactions rather than universal approval. It's a conversation piece before it becomes a wardrobe staple.
