Anfas emerged from the Emirati fragrance scene with a clear intention to professionalize regional perfumery traditions. The founder, Asem Al Qassim, trained as an architect and developed a multidisciplinary sensibility that informed his approach to scent composition. His formal recognition as the first certified perfumer in the Emirates marked a pivotal moment, establishing a precedent for structured, credentialed perfumery practice in a region with centuries of aromatic heritage. The brand name, Anfas, derives from Arabic and translates roughly to essences or innermost selves, reflecting the intimate relationship between fragrance and personal identity. Early releases like Salam and El Oud in 2014 established the house codes, emphasizing rich woody bases and layered Oriental structures. Over the following years, the collection expanded through themed releases including Watan, Ishq, and Sakan in 2019, followed by Haneen, Dhai, and Jannah in 2022. This progression shows a brand that deepened its narrative language while maintaining coherence across the range. Partnerships with retailers like The Scent Library positioned Anfas within curated fragrance destinations rather than mass-market channels, reinforcing its identity as a collector-focused house. By 2024 and 2025, new releases such as Dari Exclusively For Zhor and Mada demonstrated continued evolution, with the latter representing a 2025 offering that reflects the brand's ongoing creative development.
Anfas approaches fragrance as storytelling, treating each scent as a vessel carrying memory, place, and cultural emotion. The brand draws explicitly on the concept of Arabian hospitality, seeking to translate the warmth and generosity associated with Gulf traditions into olfactory form.
