The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Wyatt John arrived in 2018 as a tribute to newborn Wyatt John Thibodeaux, welcomed on August 3rd. Alexandria Fragrances crafted this limited-edition travel spray to capture the profound tenderness of new life. The choice of benzoin and tonka bean as anchoring notes reflects a desire to evoke warmth and comfort, while rose and jasmine honor the delicate wonder of infancy. Perfumer Hany Hafez composed a fragrance that embodies that suspended moment of joy when a new person enters the world.
Alexandria Fragrances selected benzoin for its ability to convey both warmth and spirituality, qualities fitting for a celebration of new life. Tonka bean complements this with its sweet, comforting character. Rose and jasmine bring delicate floral beauty without fragility, creating a heart that feels both precious and enduring. Tog ether, these notes form a cohesive core that requires no opening or drydown to complete it.
The evolution
The fragrance begins without transition, the heart notes arriving fully formed. Benzoin and tonka bean create an immediate warmth, followed closely by rose and jasmine unfolding in soft petals. Rose lends a tender, romantic quality while jasmine adds a subtle, lush sweetness. The florals weave through the resinous warmth, never overpowering but remaining present throughout. As the hours pass, the composition simply relaxes, the floral heart gradually softening until only a whisper remains on skin.
Cultural impact
Since its 2018 debut, Wyatt John has garnered attention among fragrance enthusiasts who appreciate its powdery amber-floral character. The limited-edition travel spray is often mentioned alongside Alexandria's other experimental releases, praised for its understated elegance and the way it captures a moment of new-born wonder. Its modest sillage makes it a favorite for close-quarter settings, while the lingering amber-tonka trail sparks conversation about the house's approach to blending floral and warm elements.
