What makes Nº05 worth wearing is the way it holds multiple registers at once. The plum accord sits at the front, ripe and almost edible, but it's braced immediately by black pepper and clary sage, two notes that keep the opening from sliding into pure dessert territory. Then caramel enters and the composition could go sugary, but tonka bean and jasmine steer it sideways, into something resinous and warm. The base confirms the read: patchouli, vanilla absolute, and leather, a trio that pulls the whole thing into grown-up territory.

The evolution

The first ten minutes belong to plum and black pepper. The fruit is dark and dense, and the pepper gives it a sharp, almost buzzing edge that cuts through any softness. Clary sage hums underneath, herbal and slightly cool, preventing the opening from tipping into pure confection. By the thirty-minute mark the caramel arrives, warm and toasted, and the jasmine opens quietly behind it, lending a creamy white-floral softness that keeps the spice from becoming aggressive. The heart phase settles into a balanced sweet-and-spiced register that feels deliberate rather than indulgent.
