The Story
Why it exists.
In 2005 perfumer Karine Chevallier set out to bottle the sensation of a sun ‑kissed coastal orchard, where ripe berries tumble into the sea breeze. The name Bouche Baie, literally “mouth bay”, evokes that juicy bite and the salty whisper of waves. Nez, still a fresh collective, gave Chevallier the freedom to layer fruit with a creamy, nutty finish, aiming for a scent that feels both indulgent and conversational.

The Beginning
In 2005 perfumer Karine Chevallier set out to bottle the sensation of a sun‑kissed coastal orchard, where ripe berries tumble into the sea breeze.
What makes Bouche Baie stand out is the daring mix of blackcurrant’s sharp edge with the lush, almost syrupy passion fruit, then grounding the sweetness with almond and coconut milk. The addition of white honey adds a subtle sheen, while jasmine and peach soften the fruit barrage, creating a balanced bridge between tart and creamy that feels both playful and sophisticated.
The Evolution
The opening erupts with a burst of blackberry, blackcurrant and passion fruit that feels like a sudden splash of summer berries on the tongue, lasting the first ten minutes before the heart unfurls. Acerola cherry, jasmine, peach and orange blossom glide in, softening the initial sharpness into a velvety floral‑fruit veil that lingers for the next two to three hours. As the composition settles, almond, coconut milk, white honey and a whisper of raspberry emerge, forming a creamy, nutty drydown that clings to skin for eight to ten hours, leaving a lingering sweet‑nutty echo that feels like a warm dessert after the party ends.
Cultural Impact
Since its 2005 debut, Bouche Baie has become a reference point for fruit‑salad lovers seeking a balanced sweet‑nutty profile. It’s frequently cited in niche forums as the bridge between bright berry openings and creamy gourmand drydowns, influencing later fruit‑forward releases from indie houses.
